Tae Kwon Do
[2013] – The Beginning
At the age of five, I began my Taekwondo journey in Australia. Training took place in a modest gym with a single master and only a small group of students. The setting may have been simple, but it instilled in me an early appreciation for discipline, respect, and focus. Those first lessons laid the foundation for the martial artist I would become.
[2015] – A New Chapter in the United States
In 2015, my family returned to the United States, opening the door to new opportunities in my training. The dojangs were larger, the instruction more structured, and the range of peers and competitors far broader. This change expanded my perspective and strengthened my determination to grow as both a student and an athlete.
[2016] – Establishing My Training Home
That year, I joined K Leaders Martial Arts, a school that would serve as my primary training home for many years. Entering at the green belt level, I advanced steadily through the ranks. The training was rigorous, challenging me to develop not only my physical skills but also my mental resilience and focus. Every belt promotion represented months of dedication and progress.
[2018] – Black Belt Achievement
In 2018, I achieved my long-standing goal of earning a black belt. This accomplishment represented years of consistent effort, perseverance, and personal growth. Far from marking the end of my journey, it served as the gateway to more advanced training, greater technical mastery, and a deeper understanding of the art.
[2020–2022] – An Unexpected Interruption
The COVID-19 pandemic brought my training to an unexpected halt. My dojang relocated out of state, and for the first time in years, I was without a regular place to train. While this period was challenging, it taught me the importance of adaptability and maintaining the spirit of Taekwondo, even in informal settings.
[2023–2024] – A Triumphant Return
In 2023, I joined Triumph Taekwondo, where I quickly found a renewed sense of purpose and motivation. Just one year later, I traveled to Korea to compete in an international tournament alongside my fellow black belts. This experience not only tested my skills on a global stage but also allowed me to meet practitioners and masters from around the world, including some of the most influential figures in Taekwondo.
Today – Continuing the Journey
Currently, I continue to train at Triumph Taekwondo, working closely with my instructors and peers to refine my skills and expand my knowledge. Taekwondo has become far more than a sport—it is a lifelong pursuit that continues to shape my discipline, character, and commitment to excellence.
